UW-Oshkosh

Oshkosh, WI
This project redevelops the former River Commons site and adjacent parking lot space (approximately 4.35 acres) into a new recreational sports complex for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Student Recreation program.  Rettler Corporation was the lead A/E on the project completed in 2018.  The project includes 3 lighted multi-use artificial turf fields. A permanent building has been constructed as the main entrance to provide concessions and lounge, restrooms facilities, changing space, office operations, safety and secured access to the facility, and equipment storage areas.  The project includes a  first of its kind in the UW-System seasonal dome for year-round use of the facility, and has been permitted as a year-round structure.  The dome and connection to the building has been designed to carefully manage stormwater and snow loads for maximum building operation and ease of maintenance. Special design considerations were implemented for the dome inflation and airlock systems.  The dome provides facilities otherwise unavailable in the winter months to outside organizations as well creating economical benefit in the area.  The lower cost, much larger area of the dome made it the natural choice for the University.
